

Born October 27, 1918 in Chicago to Charles Thomas and Ruth (Hamil) Huey, he married Maurine M. Clapp on August 21, 1942 in Augusta, South Carolina. She died March 2, 1988 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Zebell.
Surviving are one son, Stephen A. (Claudie) Huey of Pekin; one daughter, Carol E. (Greg) Becker of Pekin and three grandchildren, Adam W. Becker, Benjamin P. Becker and Kathryn M. "Kate" Becker, all of Pekin.
A World War II Army veteran serving as a Master Sergeant, Bill was part of the second wave at Normandy which occurred one week following D-day. He also was activated and served as a Master Sergeant with the Army Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion.
He was a graduate of Bradley University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. Bill was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was a lifelong fan of Bradley Basketball and was a member of the Bradley Braves Club (formerly Chiefs Club).
Following his war service, Bill worked for Standard Brands in Pekin as superintendent until its closing. He then worked for Pabst Brewing Company in Peoria Heights as a shift supervisor for ten years, retiring in 1982. After retirement, he worked part-time with his son at B & M Studio in Pekin.
He was an avid reader and a lover of history. He enjoyed collecting and listening to jazz, blues and big band music.
His funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, February29, 2008at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, and also one hour before the funeral on Friday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
