

Born August 26, 1942 in Mountain Grove, Missouri to Ray T. and Bertha (Zongker) Dennis, he married Rita Rader July 3, 1961 in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Denisa (Brian) Lewenczuk of O’Fallon, Missouri; one son, Scott Dennis of Pekin; four grandchildren, Zachary (Lexi) Dennis of Broomfield, Colorado, Benjamin (Courtney) Dennis of Pekin, Hannah Lewenczuk of St. Charles and Joshua (Emily) Lewenczuk of Springfield, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Cayde Dennis of Broomfield, Colorado, Zoee Dennis, Brooklyn Ballard, Sophie Dennis, Haidyn McClure and Bentlee Dennis all of Pekin; five nieces, RaDonna (Brad) Smith of Rogersville, Missouri, Sandra Kay Dennis, Karen (Keith) George, Lisa (Gary) Wilson all of Springfield, Missouri and Pam Greenwood of North Carolina and one nephew, Ronnie Dennis of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wayne, Norman and Darrel Dennis and two sisters, Carol Green and Laura Lee Dennis.
Burt was owner/operator of Burton Dennis Towing in Bartonville and he later owned and operated another business in Bartonville B.E. Dennis Trucking.
He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed working on cars and tinkering with machinery. He had an amazing sense of humor and warmth that people were drawn to. He had many friends and did not know a stranger.
His family will remember him for his many sayings and nuances. Burt more than anything, loved his family and cherished the time they spent together.
His memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Brad Smith will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A celebration of life will also be held at later date in Missouri.
