Byron R Busby

Born August 4, 1927 in Pekin to Robert and Anna Elizabeth (Greenburg) Busby, he married Lorene E. Royse on November 27, 1959 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Valerie E. (David) Slater of Peoria; one son, Brent A. Busby of Chicago; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Melba Jane (Phillip) Kennington of Sandy, Utah and two brothers, Stanley Busby of San Diego, California and Charles (Glenda) Busby of Tomah, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and one infant brother.

Byron was a World War II Navy veteran.

A graduate of the University of Illinois, he worked for Caterpillar, Inc. as a metallurgist for more than 40 years, retiring in 1992.

Byron knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He became a truly good-hearted man and always put his family first. He attended First Baptist Church in Pekin.

His graveside funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2009at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
