

Born August 12, 1922 in Peoria to George and Viola G. (Goodwin) Psinas, he married Carmelina Terranova on September 10, 1944. She died on March 1, 1961. Ed then married Anna Thomas Kirchner on September 15, 1962. She died on July 3, 1980. Lastly, he married Anna E. Bader on June 27, 1982. She died on July 18, 2008. He shared the past 10 years with his close companion, Sara Maquet. She died August 31, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alvin, George and Kenny Psinas and three sisters, Arlene “Toni” Viviano, Helen Hedden and Phyllis Psinas.
Surviving are two sons, George (Carla) Psinas of Pekin and Gregory (Maria) Psinas of the Philippines; one daughter, Elvira (Anthony) Vaiana of Raleigh, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Jared (Whitney) Psinas of Navarre, Florida, Josh Psinas of Pekin, Christopher Vaiana of Quincy, Massachusetts and Julian Vaiana of West Orange, New Jersey, Fararose Psinas of the Phillipines and Stephen (Patricia) Psinas of Moline and two great-granddaughters, Addison and Makala Psinas of Navarre, Florida.
Ed was a 1940 graduate of Pekin Community High School. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army in 1942. He earned his honorable discharge in 1945 at the rank of Technical sergeant.
He worked at T P & W Railroad Company in East Peoria, IL and retired after 34 years.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Pekin, where he served the church as a Deacon. He formerly was a member of First Christian Church of Sunnyland, where he served the church as an Elder.
Ed enjoyed attending many sporting events, as of late he enjoyed watching Chicago Cubs baseball and college basketball on television. He enjoyed going fishing, and creating beaded crafts for many years.
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory. Pastor Dwight Winnett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
