Carol Ann Smith

Born August 9, 1937 in Watseka to Lawrence W. and Ruth Evelyn (McManus) Townsend, she married Donald Vernon Smith on April 22, 1953 in Keokuk, IA.  He survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Peggy (Raymond) Lashbrook of Rio Hondo, TX; Dorothy (Thomas) Buss of Green Valley, Carol (Gary) Keyes of Pekin, Lorri (Noah) Lenne of Green Valley, Jenny (Joe) Iles of Manito; one son, Derrick Thomas Smith of Pekin; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one brother, Daniel (Bronie) Townsend of Dunlap.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Donald Rollin Smith in March 24, 1978 in Pekin.

A homemaker, Carol loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She also loved sewing.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin.  She also was a member of the Pekin Riding Club; the Rainbow Dancers and the 7 Circles Heritage Center at Edwards.

Her graveside funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Gaines Cemetery in Minier.  Pastor Tom Schakat will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
