

Born July 25, 1942 in West Allis, Wisconsin to Martin and Catherine (Roth) Louwers, she married James Clifford “Cliff” Simpkins on March 26, 1961 in Pekin. He died December 1, 2012 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry Louwers and four sisters, Katherine Barrows, Anna Johnson, Marilyn Machmueller and Dorothy Helmick.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen (Maria) Simpkins of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Gregory (Shelley) Simpkins of Pekin; five grandchildren, Brooke (Mark) Donnelly, Ian (Susie) Hacker, and Taylor Biga, all of Pekin, Jesse (Aaron) Shafer of Moscow Mills, Missouri, and Patty Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker. Carol loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed birds, particularly cardinals and hummingbirds and fed and cared for them year round.
Carol attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
