

Born March 26, 1954 in Peoria to Fredrick Melvin and Violet Joan (Heslin) Closen, she married Duane Wissel on October 28, 1972 in Mapleton. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Jeremy Wissel of Glasford; one daughter, Brandi (Shane) Flairty of Pekin; two granddaughters, Taylor Flairty and Erin Flairty, both of Pekin; four brothers, Frank (Barb) Closen of Pekin, John (Barb) Closen of Canton, Charles “Lucky” Closen of Bartonville, and Jerry Closen of Pekin; one sister, Mary (Wayne) Seelye of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, David, Nicholas and Joseph Closen.
Sue was a member of First Missionary Church in North Pekin.
She worked as a service manager for Wells-Fargo Bank in Canton, last working in May 2009.
She enjoyed watching and playing sports. She also loved spending time with her family and especially her granddaughters.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at First Missionary Church in North Pekin. The Rev. Tony Darr will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
