Cecil Broomfield

Born January 2, 1940 in Pekin to Cecil A. and Mary (Wamsley) Broomfield, he married Sharon K. Diegel on June 30, 1963 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Cecil (Christy) Broomfield, Jr., Jeffrey Broomfield and Chad Broomfield all of Pekin; one brother, Rick Shore of Pekin and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Cecil worked for the Peoria and Pekin Union Railway for over 40 years, retiring in 2000, last working in the bridge and building department.

He loved to hunt, fish and bowl. He also loved to tinker with anything as there was very little he couldn’t fix.

Cecil also coached Special Olympics for many years.

His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Captain Rick Ray of the Salvation Army will officiate. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
