Born December 13, 1935 in Terre Haute, Illinois to Charles William and Evelyn Mae (Harris) Brewer, Jr., he married Pauline Mae Bohannan on November 21, 1970 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are nine children, Julie (Alan) Witt of Indianapolis, Indiana, Patricia (Jeff) Howard of North Pekin, Lonnie Brewer of Bartonville, Leona (Tom) Bell of Creve Coeur, Pam Phillips of Pekin, Jim (Charity) Williamson of Manito, John (Tammy) Williamson of Pekin, Laura Brewer of Bartonville and Richard “Richie” (Carrie) Brewer of Pekin; 23 grandchildren, Kathrine Brewer, Dylan Snodgrass, Dustin Patterson, Linzey Witt, Levi (Bree) Witt, Amanda (Bryan) Neuman, Joe (Sabina) Howard, Amber Brewer, Samantha Brewer, Paul Bell, Emily Bell, Jasmine Lynch, Sarah (Josh) Miles, Justin (Brianna) Williamson, Allen Phillips, William Phillips, Raymond Phillips, Robert (Jenna) Phillips, Shelby Williamson, Cora Williamson, Christel Brewer, Rebecca Brewer and Nicholas Brewer; 25 great-grandchildren, Jayce, Gray, Novalee, Alaina, Logan, Keegan, Bailey, Avery, Finlee, Rylee, Savanna, Jaxson, Gabriel, Damien, Rylan, Marley, Lexi, Jack, Olivia, Dominick, Dawson, Bryson, Annalise, Esme and Elyse; two great-great-grandchildren, Keegan Benner and Kylo Almor and four neighborhood grandkids, Chevy Blake, Alli Blake, Gracie Blake and Dominick Blake. He also leaves his dog, Rusty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Snodgrass; one son, Charles Brewer, IV; one granddaughter, Tiffiny Allen; one grandson, Donny Allen; one great-granddaughter, Hayleigh Mitchell; one brother, John Brewer and one sister, Mary Francis Brewer.
Charlie worked for the Toledo, Peoria and Western Railway in East Peoria as a machinist and last as a foreman, retiring in 1998 with 33 years of service.
He was passionate about tractors and was known to many as “Tractor Charlie.” He was a collector of antique farm machines, tractors and gas engines. He also loved his beloved Model A Ford. He enjoyed camping and going to auctions and flea markets.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Kim Bacon will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral Monday. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
