

Born April 24, 1927 in Pekin to Ralph and Margaret (Smith) Maxwell, he married Mary Williams on February 2, 1947 in East Peoria. She died October 21, 1971 in Pekin. He later married Odie E. Brinkley Donelson in May, 13, 1972 in Pekin. She died October 23, 1996 in Salem, KY. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Paul Maxwell; one grandson, Melvin James Rigler; two brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Rigler of South Pekin and Joan Carpenter of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Ruth (Walter) Williams of Bartonville.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Charles retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 1982 with 31 years of service.
He liked fishing, hunting and travelling, especially to the lakes of Kentucky. He was a former volunteer for the Cincinnati Fire Protection District.
Charles was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Chuck Grogan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Army.
