

Born April 1, 1932 in Henderson, TN to James O. and Estell (Morton) Patterson, he married Doris June Hemby on August 11, 1951 in Corinth, MS. She died May 31, 2013 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Marcia Logue; one brother, Ray Patterson and three sisters, Veda Hailey, Arvie Bishop and Allie Faye Sheffield.
Surviving are one son, Nick Patterson of Pekin; one daughter, Donna (Ed Hodgkins) McAllister of Pekin; three grandchildren, Michael Patterson of Florida, Heather (Daniel) Krahn of Pekin and Jeffrey (Dara) McAllister of Morton; five great-grandchildren, Johnny, Jahnice, J.J., Khaleesi and Trueman; one brother, James L. (Dorothy) Patterson of Finger, TN and four sisters, Elvie Lee (James) Sanders of Henderson, TN, Ann Harty, Ellna (W.T.) Roland, both of Pinson, TN and Barbara (Glen) Smith of Bartlett, TN.
Charles worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 41 years, retiring as a maintenance welder in 1992. He then worked at the Morton Auto Auction for 18 years. He also had worked at Sangalli Nursery and for Bosnos’ Nursery many years ago.
He enjoyed fishing and playing dartball at the Miller Senior Center. He also loved watching Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune and sports of all kinds on television.
His graveside funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Pastor Johnny Creasong will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
