

He was born March 15, 1937 in Quincy to J. Harold and Elizabeth J. (Roberts) Thomas. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Robyn T. (Joseph) Murphy of Mundelein; one son, Ryan C. Thomas of Carlsbad, CA; two grandchildren, Megan Murphy and Evan Murphy and two sisters, Nancy J. Thomas of Hollywood, CA and Sarah E. (Richard) Mitch of Pleasant Hill, MO. He also leaves his fiancé, Joan Ohlendorf of O’Fallon.
Charlie was a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he earned both his Bachelor’s Degree and Law Degree. He practiced law in downtown Pekin for more than 50 years.
Charlie enjoyed travel and learning different languages and cultures. He loved nature and the outdoors and in particular enjoyed watching and feeding deer in the woods surrounding his home. Some of his other passions were golfing and fishing. He was a member of Pekin Country Club and played golf in their Tuesday Night League. He was also a licensed private pilot.
He was a big fan of Illini Football and the St. Louis Cardinals.
His memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pekin Park Foundation, 1701 Court Street, Pekin, IL 61554 to benefit the Miller Senior Center.
