Christopher Ray Tippey

He was born June 30, 1962, in Canton to Donald E. and Oretta “Rita” (Davis) Tippey. His parents and one sister, Janie M. Shumaker, preceded him in death.

Surviving are two children, Sean (Lindsay Sonenthal) Tippey of Chicago and Julia Tippey of East Peoria; one grandson, Clark Tippey; one brother, Barry (Barbara) Tippey of Lexington, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Jeff Shumaker of Lewistown; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends.

Christopher was a lodge leader for the Lewistown Masonic Lodge. He was of the Christian faith.

He had worked as an IT consultant for multiple agencies, retiring in 2022.

A sports fan, Christopher coached JFL in Pekin for 10 years. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed reading fiction by Tom Clancy, and collecting and listening to music.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Micah Garnett will officiate. Masonic Rites will be performed. A private burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
