Born September 9, 1928 in Montegranaro, Italy to Bernardo and Margaret (Natali) Girotti, she married Alfred George Taus, Sr. on August 31, 1946 in Montegranaro, Italy. He died November 8, 1981 in Marquette Heights. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter, two sisters and one brother.
Surviving are two sons, Bernard (Mary) Taus of Quincy and George (Sheri) Taus, Jr. of Payson, Arizona; two daughters, Helen Czarnomski of Peoria and Susan (Jake) Penning of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Clara had worked as a seamstress for Sears in East Peoria for 25 years before retiring in 1985. She continued her career as a seamstress in her home for many years following retirement.
She was a former member of Marquette Heights Lioness Club and Italian American Society of Peoria, where she was an avid bingo player.
A loving and dedicated mother and nona, Clara loved sewing and cooking.
Clara was a former member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur.
Her funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2022 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
Father Michael Andrejek will be the celebrant. Private visitation will be at Preston Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
