Clyde Seth Oedewaldt

PEKIN ~ Clyde Seth Oedewaldt, 89, of Pekin, passed away at 11:55 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Carle Health Pekin Hospital. He was a recent resident at the Villas of Holly Brook in Pekin, where he made many friends in a short time and loved the staff.

Born August 4, 1936 in Mapleton to Seth and Angeline (Pedze) Oedewaldt, he married Janet Elaine Whitlow on August 29, 1958 in Pekin. She died September 17, 2024 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Roy Oedewaldt, Earl Oedewaldt, Lindy Oedewaldt, George Oedewaldt, James Oedewaldt and Charles Oedewaldt.

Surviving are one son, Darren (Sue) Oedewaldt of Pekin; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Gillis of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Taylor (Maggie) Oedewaldt of Pekin and Ericka Fannon of Havre De Grace, Maryland; six great-grandchildren, James Reed of Columbia, Missouri, Mitchell Reed of O’Fallon, Missouri, Jack Reed of Columbia, Missouri, Carsen Fannon of Havre De Grace, Maryland, Summer Oedewaldt and Phoebe Oedewaldt, both or Pekin; one sister, Ella Mae (Roland) Woolcock and two sisters-in-law, Wanda Oedewaldt of Dunlap and Cheryl Lyle Coakley of Florida.

He had proudly served in the Illinois Air National Guard.

Clyde worked for Central Telephone Company as a complex equipment person, retiring with 33 years of service.

He enjoyed boating in his younger years and was a member of the Pekin Boat Club. He also treasured family vacations to Bull Shoals, Arkansas over the years, where boating and water skiing became lasting memories. He enjoyed spending weekend getaways in their trailer at the conservation area near St. David to fish and relax. He loved is family so much and was always there to support them.

His graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
