As cousins we didn't grow up knowing each other.  I have a vivid memory of you and Cynthia as toddlers visiting Grandma Naylor with your dear Mom at the old house across from the mill dam in Paxtonville.  You were chubby and so cute.   And then the next time I saw you was after the greater part of our lives had passed when you and some of your family were visiting Aunt Mae and Uncle Bill one summer.   We kept in touch, sporadically, by email since then.  My last message from you quite a while ago was when you told me of your failing health.  I put your name on my prayer list.  So you've been in my prayers since then, but only today, Dec.12, 2025 did I learn of your passing through my sister who found your obituary.  Rest in peace, dear cousin - maybe we'll meet again someday.

What an honor to have met and worked with you for 5 years after your official retirement from Caterpillar, Inc. The strongest impression you made on me and our whole entire team in China is how you conducted yourself with compassion and understanding in seeking the truth. We could always count on you to act with honesty and kindness even when the work situation was at times very difficult and challenging to manage. Your presence, calmness and encouragement provided our team the direction needed to improve our processes and give our best to produce better quality products for our customers.

In addition to the work, we had fun traveling together as a team to China where we explored the cities after a long working day and enjoyed some 'strange' and unique local dishes. You always claimed that the veggies you ate made you feel much healthier than the food you would eat back home. In our conversations, you spoke fondly about how much you enjoyed fishing, golfing with your friends on warm and sunny days, and of course the excitement of annual deer hunting days when you would sit in the cold for hours upon hours just to wait for that magical moment to arrive. We always appreciated the delicious deer sausages and steaks you graciously shared with our team in the office during the holiday seasons.

Though you are gone, you leave behind a legacy of kindness, understanding, dedication, patience and acceptance. You will truly be missed, and we will always cherish the memories of you, a true colleague and friend who brought professionalism, quality of work and joy to our workdays.

Curtis was always kind and helpful to my mom and me. When she needed to go on oxygen, he explained how the portable concentrators worked and helped to put our minds at ease. I enjoyed seeing his smiling face every time I came to visit.
