

CREVE COEUR ~ Curtis Eugene "Curt"King, 66, of 409 South Stewart Street, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria following a courageous battle with cancer.Born November 19, 1941 in Harrisburg to Walter Elvis and Agnes (Gitchell) King, he married Joan Elaine Craig on March 9, 1963 in Creve Coeur. She survives.Also surviving are one son, Curtis J. (Lori) King of Morton; two grandchildren, Craig D. King and Courtney N. King, both of Morton; three brothers, Gordon L. (Anna) King of East Peoria, Clarence (Helen) King and Cecil (Jean) King, both of Creve Coeur; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Claude and Dorothy Craig of Creve Coeur.He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Pauline Hornsby), and one brother (William King).Curt worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1991 as a machinist in East Peoria.He was a member of Creve Coeur Southern Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and trustee.Curt enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, and singing.His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. Pastor Eric Dupree will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.Monday at the funeral home.
