Curtis "Wendell" Howell

Born March 13, 1952 in Netherlands, Missouri to Curtis O. and Mary Jo (Fish) Howell, he married Kathy Jo Snider on July 3, 1976 in Manito. She died August 20, 1996 in Pekin. His parents and one brother, Jerry Howell, also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Wendy (Bryan) Lang of Pekin; one son, Jamie (Michelle) Shipp of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Austin Lang, Kaylyn Lang and Ethan Kearney-Gann; four great-grandchildren, Alaina, Gunnar, Nataleigh and Jaxon; three brothers, Thomas Howell of Pekin and John William Howell, both of Pekin and Mack (Patty) Howell of Galesburg; and his companion of over 12 years, Donna Casey of Streator.

Wendell was a former preacher at the South Pekin Southern Baptist Church.

In his free time, Wendell enjoyed going fishing and playing the bass guitar. He loved to sing gospel music and hymns. He also enjoyed listening to classic country music including, the Oak Ridge Boys and Johnny Cash.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin.
