Born January 3, 1939 in Pekin to Perry Franklin and Lois (McGinnes) Montgomery, he married V. Laxine Agee on June 20, 1959 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Dale (Kim) Montgomery of Peoria; one daughter, Tamie (Ken) Perry of Easton; six grandchildren, Celina, Erin and Isaac Montgomery, Trina and Stephanie Perry and Kaitlyn Frasier; six great-grandchildren, Cora, Shiloh, Jonathan, Donovan, Sullivan and Jillian and three siblings, Janet (Larry) Monroe of South Pekin, Richard Montgomery of Daphne, Missouri and Roger (Diane) Montgomery of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter, Aeris and one brother, John Montgomery.
Dale was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He had worked as an engineer for the Union Pacific Rail Road for 40 years, retiring in 2003.
Dale was a talker, who enjoyed visiting with people and also known for planning projects for others to do. He also enjoyed camping, being in Florida, driving his golf cart with his dog, Laddy. He was at his happiest when he was working.
He was a former member of First Assembly of God Church in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Brandon Dillard will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing of masks will be followed. Burial will be at Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin. Military rites will be provided by the United States Marine Corps. and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
