Dale was born August 29, 1935 to Arthur Ranney and Anna Lessen. He later married Elizabeth A. Kite on June 18, 1955 in Clarkesville, TN. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2015. He is also preceded in death by both of his parents and one brother; Weldon Ranney.
Surviving are four children; DuWayne (Karen) Ranney, Kevin Ranney, Traleita Ranney, and Kelly Jo (Michael) Hoehn, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Dale served in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War from 1954-1959. After his time in the military, he worked at Keystone Steel & Wire for fifteen years and later worked for the Laborers Local #231 where he retired from in 2000.
Dale enjoyed being outdoors, driving around Spring Lake, fishing, shooting pool, and spending time with his grandchildren and dogs. He is remembered by his family as an excellent artist as well, having spent many years painting and drawing. He especially loved watching the Bob Ross show. Dale was a member of the Christian faith and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.
A visitation will be held at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home on August 27th from 5-7 p.m. A graveside service will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin at 11 a.m. on August 28th with military rites.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Dale’s honor to TAPS Animal Shelter at 100 TAPS Lane Pekin, IL 61554 to honor his love of animals.
