

Born February 3, 1932 in Minooka to Clifford "Jack" and Olga (Enger) Thompson, he married Barbara Ann Todd on July 5, 1957 in Minooka. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Julie Thompson of Minooka; three sons, Timothy (Heather) Thompson of Minooka, Allen Thompson of Harrisonburg, Virginia and Christopher (Yvonne) Thompson of Pekin; six grandchildren and one sister, Donna Thompson of Minooka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Thompson.
He was a Korean War Army veteran.
Dale was a barber in Minooka owning and operating "Dale's Barber Shop" for 25 years, closing his shop in 1983. He then worked as a truck driver for 13 years, the last 10 years in Pekin, retiring from Praxair, Inc. in 1996.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post 1188 in Minooka and a member of the Tremont Bunch Golf Group. He loved golfing and fishing.
He was inducted into the Joliet Junior College Basketball Hall of Fame and also formerly played baseball.
Dale was a member of Minooka United Methodist Church and was a member of the Minooka Volunteer Fire Dept. for several years. He also was a member of the Pekin Moose Family Center #916 in Pekin.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2009 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
