

PEKIN ~ David M. Lock, 70, of 709 South Third Street, passed away at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008 at his residence.Born January 3, 1938 in Easton to Nines R. and Emma P. (Hamilton) Lock, he married Kay Gosnell on March 24, 1961 in Pekin. She survives.Also surviving are two sons, David Lock of Forest City and Matthew Lock of Pekin; three daughters, Dawn (Scott) Lauss, Brenda (Darren) Darr, both of Pekin and Jodi (John) Williams of Delavan; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandson and two sisters, Eva V. Cohenour and Sandra Dale, both of Pekin.He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and two grandsons, Christian Scott Lauss and Jordan Williams.David served in the Unites States Army during the time of the Lebanon Crisis between the Korean and Vietnam Wars.David worked as a meat cutter for Shehan's Meat Packing in Peoria for four years. He then worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in Mapleton as a power trucker from 1964 to 1992, retiring on November 1, 1992.He was a lifelong member and chaplain of the George M. Maple AMVETS Post #235 in Pekin. He also was a member of the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team; Amalgamated Meat Cutters & Butcher Workmen of North America; United Auto Workers Local 974 and the UAW Retirees Club.David loved his grandkids and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and working crossword puzzles.His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Lloyd J. Bradshaw will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, and also 30 minutes before the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites conducted by the United States Army and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
