Born September 4, 1954 in Paducah, Kentucky to Verl Edward and Beatrice Lucille (Brock) Masters, he married Vickie Sue Mandrell on January 12, 1973 in Pekin. She died March 8, 2024 in Galesburg. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brandon Lee Masters on September 23, 2025 in Peoria and one sister-in-law, Sonia Mandrell.
Surviving are three brothers, Dale (Judy) Masters of Marietta, Georgia, Randy (Lynne) Masters of Pekin and Terry (Kitty) Masters of Round Lake Beach; two brothers-in-law, Stan (Judy) Mandrell of Pekin and Cary (Megan) Mandrell of East Peoria; one sister-in-law, Sheila (Bill) Farris of Pekin and numerous nieces and nephews.
David’s life was marked by a steady devotion to his work, to his family, and to his faith.
For 42 years, David worked at Caterpillar, Inc. as a Millwright, Electrician and Instructor among other jobs retiring in 2015. He then owned and operated a Mobil Gas Station in East Peoria alongside his son, Brandon.
David enjoyed traveling, and he especially loved the mountains in Colorado. He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan, and a Kentucky fan too.
Above all, David loved the Lord and was a committed follower of Jesus, a faith that shaped his life with purpose and anchored him through every season. He was a member of The Oaks Community Church in Dahinda and was a former member of Emmanuel Community Church in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2026 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Dean Lane will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
