Born February 7, 1935 in Spokane, Washington to Dale and Florence Mildred (Rutter) Zannacker, she married Robert Francis Powell on May 1, 1952 in Pekin. He preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Nate Thompson; one step-daughter, Pamela Holmberg; three brothers, Dale Zannacker of Oskosh Wisconsin, Robert Thompson and Jerry (Donna) Thompson both of Pekin.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (Dan) Taylor and Susan K. Rasmussen, both of Pekin; two sons, Robert David (Becky) Powell and Mark Alan Powell, both of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Carrie (Jon) Morrissey of Springfield, Michael (Lindsey) Rasmussen of Manito, Bethany (Scott) Fuller, Stacey (Brad) Simoncini, Rachel Richardson, all of Pekin, Adda (James) Hebert of Spring Hill, Florida, Richard Holmberg and Robert Holmberg, both of Rantoul; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; one brothers, Rick (Janet) Thompson of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews.
She worked for Stafford’s Dairy for many years and worked part time at various place’s including Tremont Auto Auction for 14 years.
Dawn loved camping, traveling, playing cards, needlework and spending time with her family.
Her visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Inurnment will follow the memorial visitation in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
