

Born October 16, 1954 in Pekin, she was a daughter of Howard and Alice “Midge” (Rocker) Hardin. Her parents preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, David Hardin and Darold Hardin; a brother-in-law, James Bruns; and two nieces, Marcella Hardin and Sherry Dudley.
Surviving are two sisters, Dawn Hardin of Green Valley and Dana Hardin of Pekin; two sisters-in-law, Alona Hardin of Manito and Wendy Hardin of Pekin; six nieces and nephews, Rob Hardin of Manito, Jeff Hardin of Pekin, Becky (Tim) Cobb of Manito, Matthew (Tammie) Avery and Mark (Amy) Avery, both of Mackinaw; six great nieces and nephews, Will, Mikaela, Luke, Noah, Ashley and Anthony and two great-great nieces and nephews, Gracelyn and Brayden.
Debra worked many years in the restaurant industry. She last worked counter service for Long John Silvers both in Pekin and then East Peoria before retiring. She previously had worked for Cracker Barrell in Morton and at the former Jumer’s Castle Lodge in Peoria as a bartender.
She had a deep love for animals. She had many pets during her life, leaving behind her beloved cats, Smokey and Midnight. She enjoyed getting together with family and going out to eat. Debra also enjoyed shopping and going to the movies.
She was a member of St. John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley.
Her graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. DCE William Krueger and Pastor Ronald Miller will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
