Dennis was born July 12, 1954 in Peoria to LeRoy and Patsy (Sniff) Messersmith. They precede him in death.
He is survived by his two brothers, Del Ray Messersmith of Monica and Dave (Julie) Messersmith of Tremont; three nieces, Natalie (Tim) Anderson, Ashley Messersmith, and Sara (Ben) Bohm; two nephews, Zach (Kristen) Messersmith, and Jim (Shannon Murphy) Messersmith; and a third brother, a great and loyal friend Greg (Carrie) Camp.
Dennis worked in the service industries for many years and was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed spending his time surrounded by his family and friends, watching westerns and all types of sporting events, especially the Chicago White Sox. A major highlight of Denny's was attending Game 1 of the 2005 World Series with his nephew Zach.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A gathering celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
