Diane "DeDe" Owens

Born October 25, 1937 in Pekin to James A. and Viola (Wilkinson) Norris, she married Harry C. Temple on September 1, 1957 at First Presbyterian Church in Pekin. He died December 8, 1973. She married Ronald J. Owens, Sr. on April 10, 1993. He died on April 5, 2008. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Sheila Biggs.

Surviving are three children, Susan Lynn Durham of Brimfield, Santana (Keith) Brewington of Green Valley and Sherrill Lee Temple of White Oak, Georgia; two step-sons, Ronald J. “Skip” (Chris) Owens, Jr. and Scot (Christina) Owens, both of Pekin; three grandchildren, Rachelle Beever, Joshua Steinsultz and Corey Biggs and five great-grandchildren, Kassiddy, Korbin, Abigail, Caleb and Savannah and one great-great-granddaughter, Astrid.

Diane graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1955 and worked at Pekin Insurance and then Prudential Insurance. She also worked as a legal secretary for Elliff & Elliff and Bernardi, Ault & Bode. She then worked as a secretary to the superintendent at Pekin Community High School District 303 for 30 years, retiring in 2006.

She was a member of Pekin Bible Church, Red Hat Society, Pekin Women’s Club, PEO Sisterhood and Friends of the Pekin Library. She also was secretary/treasurer of Magnolia Manor Condominiums in Pekin.

Her memorial visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private inurnment will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
