Born March 29, 1938 in Waterloo, Iowa to William and Dorothy Irene (Cowser) Price, she married Joseph Alois Meyers on December 8, 1972 in Pekin. He died May 26, 2017 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sally Ann Simpson and one brother, William Cowser Price.
Surviving are five nieces and nephews who were like children to her, Traci (Matt) Van Prooyen of Bloomington, Todd (Tanya) Simpson of Kingston, Tennessee, Becky Price of Pekin, Scott (Michelle) Price of Green Valley and Andrew (Tracey Diden) of Pekin; fourteen great nieces and nephews, Wyatt (Savannah) Simpson, Piper Simpson, Ryder Simpson, Sontee Simpson, Nieema Simpson, Kami Simpson, Caleb Van Prooyen, Anne Van Prooyen, Paige Price, Collin Price, Prince Price, Kamari Price and Cody Diden and one great-great niece, Indigo Simpson. She also leaves a cousin, Phyllis Gessel of Peoria.
Doll dedicated herself to the steady, meaningful work of daily life and helped her husband farm, especially during harvest, offering support with strength and constancy. She previously worked for many years at Corn Products Company.
Doll’s interests reflected a broad and creative spirit. She liked to mow her acreage and enjoyed sunbathing. A kind of renaissance woman, she enjoyed singing, loved horses, dogs and especially cats. She also was an amazing artist. She was known for giving, sometimes to a fault, and for a warmth, humor and a quick wit that made others feel immediately at ease. She didn’t know a stranger, and her kindness carried itself naturally into the lives around her.
She was a member of Valley Chapel in Green Valley and in her church community at Grace Church in Morton. With a bus driver’s license and a willing spirit, she made it possible for children to attend Vacation Bible School and created many back drops for those events at Valley Chapel. Doll will be remembered for her love of Christ her Savior and Lord and by her generous servant’s heart.
Her graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Green Valley Cemetery. Pastor John Koessler and Traci Van Prooyen, her niece, will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
