

Born March 10, 1928 in Herington, Kansas to Sam and Sophie (Blume) McRae, he married Evelyn June Strubhar on August 14, 1954 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Ann Woodworth of Pekin; one son, Don Alan (Tina) McRae of Columbia, South Carolina; one granddaughter, Stephanie McRae of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother, Wayne (Louise) McRae of Oak Grove, Missouri; and one sister, Carol Deason of Abilene, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Charles “Chumley” Woodworth; one brother, Thomas McRae; and three sisters, Beth Pagenkopf, Betty Duren, and Mildred Smith.
A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, he attained the rank of Sergeant.
Don worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1983 as a processing analyst in Mossville.
He was a life and 60 year member of Empire Masonic Lodge #126 A.F. & A.M. in Pekin.
Don enjoyed fishing, telling stories, and doing jig saw puzzles. His greatest joy was his family.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Gary Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
