

Born January 29, 1943 in Pekin to Harry and Anna (Green) Euteneuer, he married Janet E. Marrs on June 4, 1977 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Lisa M. (Mark) Davidson of Brimfield, Dr. Michael P. (Marnie) Euteneuer of Elmhurst and Tricia (Bill) McCarthy of Oswego; five grandchildren, Isaac Davidson, Grace Davidson, Anna Euteneuer, Ava Euteneuer and Sophie McCarthy; one brother, Harry (Chong Nam) Euteneuer of Germantown, MD and one sister, Elizabeth (Dan) Urish of North Kingston, RI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He was a 1965 graduate of the Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He lettered in football at WIU all 4 years and was selected as First Team IIAC, NAIA District 20 All-Star Team and to the Peoria Journal Star All-Star Team, all as linebacker. Don also earned his Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Bradley University in Peoria.
He began his teaching career in 1965 as a P.E. teacher and coach at Limestone Community High School District 310 in Bartonville. He then went on to Youth Farm, where he worked as a counselor after earning his counseling degree. He served as the Dean of Students and also coached at Bergan High School. He last worked for Washington Community High School District 308 as a counselor, football coach and geography teacher for more than 25 years, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association, the Illinois Education Association and the National Education Association.
His family will remember that his grandchildren were the highlight of his life.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Jim Barton will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the funeral Sunday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
