Born April 14, 1931 in Kettanning, PA to Hilton B. and Gertrude M. (O’Donnell) Hannan, he married Susan M. Kriegsman on October 24, 1953 in Pekin. She preceded him in death February 9, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert Hannan.
Surviving are four children, Elizabeth M. (Mark) DeSchepper, Matthew D. Hannan, Andrew (Angela) Hannan, all of Pekin and Timothy P. (Nicolle) Hannan of Bangor, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren, Brian DeSchepper of Pekin, Chloe DeSchepper of Windermere, FL, Drew (Maeve) Hannan of Overland Park, KS, Alex Hannan, Amanda Hannan, both of Pekin, Seth Hannan, Darah Hannan, both of Tremont, Kate Hannan and Sarah Hannan, both of Bangor, WI and one sister, Mary (William) Pescaglia of Green Valley.
Don worked in the real estate and mortgage industries in his earlier years but then turned to his true passion of entertainment and travel arranging specialty cruises and entertainment productions.
He was a past member of the Pekin Barbershop Chorus winning three International Championships, produced shows for the Salvation Army at Christmas time in Peoria, Founding Member of the Old Timer’s Baseball Association, Member of the Pekin Community Concert Committee, and past General Manager of the Pekin High School Hockey Club.
He was most proud of the “Evening of Music,” he produced and acted as Master of Ceremonies for 21 times as a finale to the Pekin Marigold Festival.
He was of the Catholic faith.
His memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private services and inurnment will be held in Lakeside Mausoleum in Pekin.
