Born December 3, 1925 in Danvers to Milburn H. and Eunice (Green) Nafziger, he married Mary J. Nickel on December 12, 1946 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Kathy (Robert) Maloney of Pekin; two sons, Richard Nafziger of Clara City, Minnesota and Daniel (Karen) Nafziger of Metamora; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Nafziger of Gibson City, Melanie Nafziger of Pekin, Beth Maloney of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rob Maloney of Aberdeen, Maryland, Sara Nafziger, Kirstin Nafziger and Nicholas Nafziger, all of Metamora and two great-grandchildren, Dakota Harris and Colton Arrowood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carol Nafziger and Robert Nafziger.
Snapper worked for Central Illinois Light Company for 32 years, retiring October 1, 1985 as a shift supervisor at the Wallace Station in East Peoria.
He was a former member and past chairman of the Marquette Heights Zoning Board. He also was a formermember of the Marquette Heights Lions Club. He resided in Marquette Heights for 25 years and in Lacon for 19 years.
Don enjoyed traveling and camping.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2006at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Cremation will be accorded.
