Donald E Potter

Born September 26, 1954 in Peoria to Charles M. and Della M. (Roberts) Potter, he married Ann K. Shallenberger on September 21, 1974 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Brenna (Kevin) Brackett and Brook (Matt) McCreary, both of Pekin; five grandchildren, Katelyn, Riann, Raegan, Ava and Sullivan and three siblings, David M. (Kathy) Potter of Pekin, Timmy J. (Janice) Potter, of Topeka and Chucky M. (Vicky) Potter of Mapleton.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Bobby L. Potter.

Donnie had worked out of the Operative Plasterers & Cement Masons Local 18 in Peoria for 20 years, spending the last 15 years as a business agent, retiring in 2016.

A straight shooter, Donnie was very outgoing and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed working on and racing his drag car. In his early years, he also enjoyed riding dirt bikes and was known as the “wheelie master”.

Donnie cherished spending quality time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

His funeral will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Deacon Tim Blanchard will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
