Born September 7, 1947 in Pekin, he was one of three children of Francis M. and Virginia Louise (Harms) Preston. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are his close friends and caregivers, Keith and Jami Wyss of Pekin and Tonya and Stephen Lee of Manito.
A United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 in Pekin
Don formerly worked for Sherex in Mapleton and also as a truck driver in the area for many years.
His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014 at War Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Jimmy Taylor will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
