He was born on February 27, 1929 in Peoria to Joseph R. and Florence A. (Sanders) Wotton. Donald married Alberta F. Koestner on December 30, 1950 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2019.
Donald was also preceded by his parents; one brother, Montell Wotton; and one sister, Nancy Gardner.
He is survived by three sons, Donald (Bobbi) Wotton, Jr. of Pekin, Michael (Monica) Wotton of Pekin, and David (Joan) Wotton of Orlando, Florida; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey (Dorothy) Wotton of Plainfield, Jason Wotton of St. Paul, Minnesota, Crystal (Charles) Bohm of Peoria, Nicholas Wotton of Pekin, Michael Wotton, Jr. of East Peoria, Britney Wotton (Eric Choopani) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Drew (Stephanie) Wotton of Denver, Colorado and Madalynn Wotton of Pekin; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Josphine Day of Peoria; and one brother, Thomas Wotton of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army. He later worked as an Electrician with IBEW Local # 34 for forty plus years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Pekin.
Donald enjoyed woodworking, computers, walking, hiking, and camping. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears. Donald and Alberta enjoyed wintering in Florida.
Donald’s visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. His funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Atterberry officiating. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military honors will be accorded.
