

PEKIN ~ Donna Sue Greener, 85, of Pekin, passed away at 5:05 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the Villas of Holly Brook in Pekin surrounded by family. She is now at home in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born November 23, 1935 in Norris City to John Millen and Lucy Ina (McGill) Leslie, she married James L. Greener on June 15, 1957 in Pekin. He died April 29, 2020 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard Leslie.
Surviving are four sons, Jay (Susan) Greener of Deerfield, Jeffrey (Gaby) Greener of Cypress, Texas, James “Jamie” (Shauna) Greener of Kansas City, Missouri and Joel (Judy) Greener of Brentwood, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren, Jonathan (Emily) Greener, Caitlin Greener, Nicholas Greener, Heidi Greener, Robin (Brittany) Greener, Ian Greener, Molly Greener, Megan Greener, James Greener, Morgan Greener, Emily Greener and Claire Greener; four great-grandchildren, Owen, Jude, Silas and Zoe; one sister, June (Melvin) Behrends of Pekin and one brother, John Stephen (Janice) Leslie of Las Vegas. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Jan Leslie of Tremont and numerous nieces and nephews.
She had worked as a secretary at Edison Intermediate School in Pekin from 1953 to 1957. Donna later drove disabled children for Pekin Public Schools District 108 from 1976 to 1979.
Donna was a devoted member of Pekin Bible Church, where she formerly served on the missionary committee and as a former Sunday school teacher. She also was a member of the Mary-Martha Circle and was a choir member and pianist at the church. She and her husband were longtime leaders of the Primetimer’s group at Pekin Bible. Donna and her husband have been longstanding global missions partners through fervent prayer, giving and hospitality.
A celebration of life memorial service for Donna and her husband will be held at a later date at Pekin Bible Church. Her private visitation and funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2021. The Rev. Canon Jay L. Greener, her son, will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.
