Born July 22, 1936 in Pekin to Fred and Thelma (Duquenne) Baccheschi, she married Darrell E. Sarnes on November 7, 1954 in Pekin. He died March 1, 2016 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Timothy Fosdick; one brother, Robert Baccheschi and one sister, Elma “Babe” Arnold.
Surviving are one son, Mark (Debra Dolman) Sarnes of Pekin; one daughter, Brenda Fosdick of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Corey) Stoneking of Pekin, Jason Sarnes of Manito, Jessica (Jeff) Eagan of Tucson, Arizona, Nikki (Kent) Wagenschutz of Peoria, Jenna Bundy, Kaleb Fosdick, Chloe Fosdick and Marilee Fosdick, all of Pekin; seven great-grandchildren, Mason Sarnes, Addyson Sarnes, Noah Stoneking, Braden Stoneking, Guinevere Eagan, Oren “Obi” Eagan and Royce Matthew Eubanks Fosdick. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Diane Baccheschi of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.
She was a 1954 graduate of Pekin Community High School.
Donna co-owned and managed Pretty Women Plus in Morton for 15 years, retiring in 1995. She previously had managed the snack bar at Pekin Hospital for 7 years, worked in the office of Pekin Country Club for 7 years and in clerical at Caterpillar for 4 years. Donna also sold real estate for a short time with Thomas Harris Realtor.
She loved her Lord and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was a choir member for more than 40 years. She also had been a member of the Maranatha Sunday school class and sang in the Living Christmas Tree productions for many years.
She also was a former Melody Maid and had sang with the Musical Mrs and the Pekin Civic Chorus.
Donna loved her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and all her friends and dearly enjoyed when they popped in to see her. She enjoyed family trips to Alaska, Florida, Hawaii and Minnesota.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Vernon Risner will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
