Doris A (Smith) Gray

Born April 8, 1943 in Corinth, Mississippi to Robert Lee and Ota Mae (Meeks) Smith, she married Duane Gray on December 24, 1993 in Pekin. He passed away December 31, 2017. Her parents, one great-grandchild, Delaney Mae Evans; one sister and six brothers also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children, Curt Hill of Corryton, Tennessee, Susie (Mike) Malone and William Bachman, both of Henry; seven grandchildren, Rachel Hill, Brandon Serpette, Blake Serpette, Miles Malone, Kassi (Zach) Evans, Kaitlyn Bachman and Josh Hill; nine great-grandchildren; three siblings, Clara (Danny) Wood of Pekin, Edna Gray of Corinth, Mississippi and Lane (Delia) Wilson of Peoria, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

A homemaker, Doris enjoyed spending her time with family. She was the caretaker, always putting others before herself. Doris was a very social person, and a wonderful neighbor, taking zucchini bread as a thank you, to those who would lend her a helping hand. She was also an avid Chicago Cubs Fan.

Doris was a member of Pekin Lighthouse Church of God, there she adored going to gatherings, even coming in 2nd place at a chili cook-off, the church held.

Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Pastor Rick Hill will officiate. There will be no visitation.
