

Born March 7, 1925 in Pekin to George and Berniece (Carnot) Starcevich, she married William E. Cassidy on March 1, 1974 in North Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Patricia Hickey of Phoenix, Arizona; three step-sons, David (Debbie) Cassidy of Pekin, Larry (Cher) Cassidy of Gilbert, Arizona, and Mike (Vicky) Cassidy of Watauga, Texas; two step-daughters, Susan Scott of Pekin and Nancy Monroe of Mount Pulaski; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren (Kristina Hickey and Brad Follis).
Dorothy worked as an executive secretary to Bob Rice at WRAU Channel 19 in Creve Coeur for over 20 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and William Schaefer American Legion Post #44 Ladies Auxiliary, both in Pekin, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3883 Ladies Auxiliary in Bartonville. She was a life member of the Paul Towne Memorial AMVETS Post #169 Ladies Auxiliary in North Pekin.
Dorothy was an avid bowler at Sunset Lanes in Pekin. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, and listening to barber shop quartets.
Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Father David Whiteside will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. There will be no visitation.
