

Born January 6, 1922 in Rushville to Valentine and Julia (Croxton) Campbell, she married Berle Peacock on November 16, 1940 in Palmyra, Missouri. He died in 1993. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Dawn Hoerr; one great-grandson, Joseph Hoerr, III; three brothers; four sisters and her longtime companion, Carl Ferguson.
Surviving are two sons, Berle Peacock and Wade Peacock, both of Joplin, Missouri; one daughter, Sandra Ferguson; five grandchildren, Terry (Brenda) Peacock of Golden, Missouri, Sheri (Robert) Bradley of Joplin, Valerie Ferguson, Michelle Ferguson, both of Pekin and Janelle (Robert) Bredson of Washington; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She retired from Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, where she was manager of their day care center.
Dorothy was family-centered and enjoyed her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, reading, traveling, camping, and dancing.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Her memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private inurnment will be in Good Hope Cemetery near Rushville.
