

Born May 17, 1921 in Wapella to Thomas Robert and Bessie Gertrude (Jones) Wilson, she married Herman Alexander Short on August 21, 1945 in Hallsville. He died June 6, 1988. She was also preceded in death her parents,two brothers; and five sisters.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary (John) Compton of Deer Creek, Martha Stone of Los Angeles, California, Helen (Michael) Taylor of Towanda, and Marjorie (Eric) Ho of Alma, Michigan; two sons, James (Kathleen) Short of Carmichael, California and Samuel Short of DeWitt; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchldren.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Wapella Christian Church in Wapella and had attended Creve Coeur Christian Church in Creve Coeur.
She was a member of Tazewell County Home Extension and the Red Hat Society.
Dorothy enjoyed horseback riding, playing the violin, traveling, dogs, and collecting Beenie Babies.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday,May14, 2007at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
