Douglas L. Clifton

Born November 2, 1945 to LeRoy and Marguerite (Olt) Clifton in Pekin, he married Peggy A. Denning on February 7, 1965 in Peoria. She died June 29, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, RoyLee Clifton.

Surviving are his son, Scott D. (Lisa) Clifton of South Pekin; four grandchildren, Aryann (Nathan) Brooks of Peoria Heights, John (Kayla) Schrader of South Pekin, MaKayla (Ryan Kelley) Clifton of Galesburg and Maddison Clifton of South Pekin and 12 great-grandchildren.

Doug had worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years as an oiler, retiring in 1994. He was also a member of Pekin Elks No. 1271, Pekin Eagle Lodge Arie #1869 and Pekin Moose Family Center 916.

He enjoyed hunting and stockcars. He was a huge Chicago Cubs baseball fan, but Doug’s greatest joy was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

A private inurnment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Pastor Chad Richmond will officiate. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
