

Born June 27, 1935 in Mapleton to John B. and Minnie (Reichel) Goetze, he married Alberta Bailey on September 22, 1957 in Green Valley. She died in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Darla Tieszen; three sisters, Jean Fisher, Dolores Laird and Betty Burritt and one brother, Bernard Goetze.
Surviving are two daughters, Tammy (Rick) Smith of Mapleton and Mary Lou (Ron) Janssen of Glasford; one son, Ted (Melissa) Goetze of Green Valley; his son-in-law, Jeff Tieszen of Glasford; nine grandchildren, Ryan Smith of Mapleton, Mark Smith of Bartonville, Nicole (Bill) Lettow of Hanna City, Chris (June) Janssen of Mapleton, Benjamin Tieszen of Glasford, Hope Moore of Peoria, Susan (Chris) Schertz of Pekin, Sarah (Grant) Anderson of Carbondale and Joshua (Eryn) Goetze of Pekin; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Donna Abbott of New Lenox and Fran Goetze of Bluffs.
Duane was a life member of Lancaster Lodge 106, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, where he received his 50 year pin. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria and Mohammed Temple, Shrine in Bartonville.
He was president of Glasford Telephone Company and a member T-L Rural Water District in Glasford. He was also a member of the Peoria and Tazewell Farm Bureau and a lifelong member of Glasford Methodist Church. He had previously served as a board member of the Illini Bluffs School District #327.
Duane was a lifetime farmer!! He previously worked at Farm Service in Kingston Mines as a mechanic and fuel loader for many years. He had also worked at Hiram Walker in Peoria.
An avid Chicago Cubs fan, Duane enjoyed spending time with his family and eating breakfast at the Hog Trof in Hanna City with friends.
His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Glasford United Methodist Church. His daughter, Mary Lou will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m Friday evening at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton, where Masonic Rites will be conducted.
