

GRIDLEY ~ Duane Eugene "Goat" Turner, 55, of 104 ½ East 4th Street, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at his home surrounded by family and friends after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born September 24, 1953 in Peoria to Arthur Dean and Imo Maxine (Phillips) Turner, he married Diane Dull. He later married Dorothy Noble and then DiAnne Grace. Surviving are two sons, Scott (Jackie) Turner of Lexington and Michael (Misty) Turner of Paducah, Kentucky; one daughter, Hollie (Ed Flesher) Turner of Gridley; four grandchildren, Kelsey Nagel and Kaylie Turner, both of Lexington and Ashley Turner and Austin Turner, both of Paducah, Kentucky; one brother, Arthur "Sonny" (Donna) Turner of Bloomington; and six sisters, Sandra (Rick) Bowman of Phoenix, Arizona, Nancy Wigett of Heyworth, Edith Buss of LeRoy, Debbie (Ed) Gottschalk of Bloomington, Sally (Glenn) Schultz of Columbus, Wisconsin, and Brenda (Jeff) Case of Downs. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Delbert Nuss; one sister, Barbara Gordon, and one brother, Karri Turner. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Duane previously worked as a welder and then as a fork lift driver for DiversaTech MetalFab in Gridley. Duane enjoyed playing pool, woodworking, and watching NASCAR. He was a Chicago Cubs baseball fan. His celebration of life gathering will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Gridley American Legion, with military rites accorded outside the post at 5:30 p.m. Cremation has been accorded. Private burial of cremains will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray expenses in care of Heartland Bank, 401 West Main Street, Lexington, IL 61723-1221.
