E. Dean Dorsey

PEKIN ~ E. Dean "Irish" Dorsey, 76, of 2212 Belmont Drive in Pekin, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at his residence. Born September 11, 1930 in Greenfield to Daniel Joseph and Besse Marie (Griffith) Dorsey, he married Mary Sue "Susie" Greene on April 21, 1950 in Carrollton. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Vicki S. (Weldon) Walker of McLean; one son, Rick D. (Jeannie) Dorsey of Peoria; four grandchildren, Brooke (Andru) Lombardo of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ashleigh (Rob) McCann of Fall City, Washington, Todd Walker of McLean and Laura B. Dorsey of Peoria; one step-great-granddaughter, Adia McCann of Fall City and one brother, Gary (Barbara) Dorsey of Winchester. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Lois McGinnis of Wood River. His parents and one sister, Darlene House, preceded him in death. Dean retired from Sears, Roebuck and Company in Peoria in 1995, with 15 years of service, last working in sales in their floor coverings department. He previously worked as a realtor in Pekin with Vogelsang Realty and in sales for Brewers Distributing in Peoria. He was a 50-year and life member of Empire Lodge 126, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Illinois in Pekin. Dean also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin. Dean enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a great love for nature. He also enjoyed his yard work. Certainly family was the most important aspect of his life. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2006at Shields Memorial Home in Greenfield, where visitation will be one hour before. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Greenfield. Locally, visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2006at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with Masonic services at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL 62711-6226.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO EXTEND MY SINCERE SYMPATHY TO ALL OF YOU THE FAMILY OF DEAN. HE WAS A REALLY GREAT GUY AND HAD ONE OF THE NICEST SMILES AND LAUGHS HE WOULD LIGHT UP A ROOM THAT IS FOR SURE!! I WAS THE STORE MANAGER'S SECRETARY AT SEARS IN PEORIA, ILLINOIS AND NOW LIVE IN ARIZONA. IN FACT I WORKED FOR MR. PETTY AND MR. BORKOWSKI. I STILL GET THE PEORIA JOURNAL STAR AND HAVE A LINE WITH ALL OF THE SEARS FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND WE TRY TO STAY UP WITH ALL OF OUR FRIENDS. HE WILL BE MISSED VERY MUCH AND WAS A REALLY GREAT GREAT GUY. AGAIN MY SINCERE SYMPATHY TO ALL OF YOU. AND "DEAN" REST IN PEACE!!!
