Born December 7, 1934 in South Gifford, Missouri to Greenup Medley “Jeff” and Imogene (Howard) Hill, he married Betty Anne Thomsen on June 22, 1984 in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Tina (Joe) DeRosa of Creve Coeur, Robin (Kenny) Chance and Kimberly Rogers, both of Marquette Heights, Genie (Bob) Galleger of Piney Flats, Tennessee and Kathy Westhafer of Marquette Heights; one son, Steven (Ruth) Simpson of Beaumont, California; 105 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and his daughter-in-law, Martha McIntosh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Peggy Break and Nancy Greer; one son, Richard McIntosh and two brothers, Jim and Bill Hill.
Edd was veteran of the Korean War, serving in United States Navy.
He had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in Mossville as a diesel mechanic for 35 years, retiring in 1989. He also served as Street Superintendent for Marquette Heights for 40 years.
A loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Edd had a caring heart for others.
Edd was of the Baptist faith.
His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Pastor Mack Clark will officiate. Private visitation will be at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Military rites will be provided by the United States Navy and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
