

Born February 15, 1918 in Harrison County, Kentucky to John Elery and Ada Marie (Gill) Sargent, she married Lee Ander Haley on December 28, 1935 in Coffee County, Tennessee. He died February 10, 1966 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one great-granddaughter, one sister (Blanche Hayden), and one brother (James Sargent).
Surviving are four sons, George A. (Shirley) Haley of Kingston Mines, Wayne E. (Barbara) Haley of Farmington, Gary L. Haley of Yates City, and John S. Haley of Chattanooga, Tennessee; four daughters, Vina Rozel (Warren) White of Mackinaw, Evelina M. Stephenson of San Antonio, Texas, Ann M. Haley of Peoria, and Terri L. (Jay) Smith of Canton; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Heidi) Sargent of Decatur; and six sisters, Catherine Sargent of Cincinnati, Ohio, Helen Hayden of Peoria, Tennky Hibdon and Ruby (Harold) Shelton, both of Manchester, Tennessee, Nancy (Bill) Yagar of Memphis, Tennessee, and Faye (Bob) Davis of Smyrna, Tennessee.
A homemaker, Edith had worked in a garment factory and did seamstress work, both in Tennessee. She also worked in a canning factory during World War II.
Edith enjoyed crocheting, gardening,feeding the squirrels, bird watching, and doing hide-a-word puzzles.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Shane Smith will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
