

Born June 18, 1934 in Bartonville to Fred L. and Josephine A. (Matson) Cochran Kelly, she married James R. Funk, Sr. in 1952 in San Antonio, TX.
Surviving are one daughter, Susan (Edward) Gaitros of Pekin; two sons, Eric Funk of Peoria and James (Debra) Funk, Jr. of Green Valley; six granddaughters, Kerri Funk of Urbana, Jamie (Joseph) Brignall of Knoxville, Megan (Nicholas) Taylor of Pekin, Katie Gaitros of Bartonville, Susan Funk of Rockford and Autumn Funk of Peoria; two grandsons, Benjamin (Kristina) Funk of Pekin and James Funk III of Peoria; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Cochran of Pekin; and three brothers, David (Bernie) Cochran of Pekin, Fred (Katherine) Kelly of Chillicothe and Anton (Jane) Cochran of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Josephine and Anton Cochran; one grandson, Matthew Funk; four sisters; and two brothers.
Eleanor was a nurse’s tech for 20 years at Peoria State Hospital, retiring in 1972. She later worked at Medina Marketing as an office manager and Johnsonville and Palermo Villa.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin for 30 years.
Eleanor enjoyed gardening, reading and babysitting her grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. James McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
