

Born June 21, 1939 in Clinton, Indiana to Glen and Charlotte (Reese) Kite, she married Dale M. Ranney on June 18, 1955 in Clarksville, TN. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, DuWayne (Karen) Ranney and Kevin Ranney, both of Pekin; two daughters, Traleita “Sis” Ranney and Kelly Jo (Michael) Hoehn, both of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Sean (Nichol) Vest, Misty Dawn Ranney, Matthew Lee (Robin) Young, and Alexzandra Hoehn, all of Pekin, Lindsey Ranney of Birmingham, AL, Jordan Ranney of Chicago, and Michael (Becky) Ranney of Hopedale; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Mae Gardner and Jouetta Miller, both of Pekin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Billy Warren Kite and Bobby Glen Kite.
Liz had worked as a receptionist for Dr. Burge, DDS in Pekin for 13 years and later at the Peoria City/County Health Department for 20 years, retiring in 2010. Previously, she had worked as the manager at Montgomery Wards in downtown Pekin, as a jailer at the Tazewell County Jail, and in the Dragon’s Den at Pekin Community High School West and East Campuses.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin and was a former member of the Pekin Eagles Aerie #1869 Ladies Auxiliary.
Liz enjoyed being with her family and friends especially her grandchildren. She liked to play bingo.
Her graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Pastor David Spaeth will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
