Elsie C. Green

PEKIN ~ Elsie Cecille Green, 85, of Pekin, passed away at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at UnityPoint Health in Pekin. Born March 7, 1937 in Pekin to Ralph Harlan and Edna Marie (Harmon) Hannah, she married Robert Gene Green on August 29, 1980 in Pekin. He survives. Also surviving are one son, Richard (Nancy) Barlow of Canyon Lake, Texas; four step-children, Teresa Mack of Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, James (Melissa) Green of Pekin, Cathy (Lance) Brown of Leland and Dorothy (Chuck) Norris of Lathrop, Missouri; one grandson, Shawn Barlow of Alaska; ten step-grandchildren; thirty-one step-great-grandchildren and one brother, Harlan (Maria) Hannah of Cocoa, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Chris Barlow and her beloved Maltese, Casper. Elsie retired from Illinois Mutual Insurance in Peoria. Bob and Elsie then spent the next 19 years in Melbourne, Florida before moving back to Pekin. She was a member of Celestial City Chapter #333 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Pekin and a former member and past worthy matron Harbor City (Florida) Chapter #243. Elsie was a collector of dolls and enjoyed embroidery work, sewing and needlepoint. She was also a quilter and was proud to have made more than 300 quilts for Quilts of Honor. She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. Her graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Green Valley Cemetery. Pastor John Schurter will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to Quilts of Honor.
